NOTE: Illustration is Flash Programming Cable with a DB-9 Adapter which is supplied with SkyCommander.
This cable is used for upgrading firmware and database management. When used for this purpose, end B is plugged into the DB9 adapter and end A is plugged into the Sky Commander. In this configuration the Sky Commander will appear inoperable (solid black bar across top of display) when it is turned on. This is normal and will in no way harm the Sky Commander.
* The cable may also be used for general purpose serial communications with a PC such as with many popular astronomy programs. When used for this purpose, end A is plugged into the DB9 adapter and end B is plugged into the Sky Commander.
* For PCs that do not have a serial COM port, a USB to RS232 (COM port) adapter is required. They are readily available and inexpensive. Do a web search for “USB to Serial Adapter”.
