Meade's #25A red filter, with 14% transmission, does approximately the same thing as the #21 orange filter but does so with more effectiveness when used with larger-aperture telescopes. It is useful primarily upon Jupiter, Saturn & Mars, but also increases the contrast between Mercury and bright blue skies during daylight or twilight observations. It is only useful upon telescopes with apertures of 8.0" or larger.
