Description

Pelican Nebula, imaged at DeepSkyWest using a Hyperion 16" F7.3 scope, on a Paramount ME, FLI 16803 and Astrodon 5nm Halpha, 3nm SII and OIII. This is a crop, focusing on HH 555, comes from a larger image of the whole Pelican. Check out the tiny "finger nail" at the tip of the long-finger labeled Herbig-Haro 555. It's a protostar generating a polar jet which hits interstellar medium, ionizing gases along the way.
