Description

This was taken with the 20 RC and STL-11000 at my observatory in New Mexico. The seeing kept improving as I was imaging, so the luminance images show a lot of detail. This is a combination of six 15-minute luminance image, and three sets of RGB data (15:9:18 minutes). The image is deep enough to show the very dim outer ring of stars around M94. There is a bright core, then a dim disk, and further out a very dim ring of stars. I will post another image with special processing to show the ring in greater contrast - you might need to brighten your monitor to see the ring in this image.
