Losmandys Electronic Ears, actually better described as electronic panel brackets, are designed to be used with the EX-12, to raise the Model 492 digital drive panel or Gemini electronics panel up to a more comfortable height. They work exactly as intended, without any tools required except for an allen wrench.
The required holes are already pre-drilled and tapped on the EX-12. With the proper-sized allen wrench, the supplied s.s. allen bolt cap screws hold the brackets securely. Either of the panels attach in seconds.
Anyone with a GM-8, G-9 or G-11 Losmandy mount who contemplates adding the EX-12 extension should seriously consider these brackets.

I bought these not quite knowing what to expect, since there are no pictures or much of a description. I guessed they would be attached to a ring that would clamp onto the mini-pier. In reality they are two separate pieces which must be installed by the user by drilling two holes at a weird angle into the pier and then tapping the holes. A paper template for placing the holes would be convenient. The holes should really be made with the help of a drill press, since the bit is likely to skitter off the surface due to the steep angle involved.
