Not really as functional as some of the higher quality binoculars with mountings. I also found the 40 X magnification wanting in terms of image quality in the pair I have used and tested several times.
Difficult to use at higher altitude angles. 25X did however deliver very sharp views. More of a border type binocular than a true astro binocular.
