Starizona HyperStar Lens for 11" Celestron SCT

Manufacturer : Starizona
Part Number : HS18-11

Who wants to spend all night taking a picture of one object? HyperStar allows a Schmidt-Cassegrain telescope to be converted to an amazingly fast f/1.8 imaging system! Pictures now take mere minutes, instead of hours, and there is no need to guide or even to have an equatorial mount! HyperStar is easy to install and use, making it perfect for the novice, but it is still powerful enough for advanced astrophotographers.

HyperStar is based on Celestron''''s'' innovative Fastar feature. This feature allows the secondary mirror to be removed from Celestron''''s'' 8", 11", and 14" Schmidt-Cassegrain telescopes. By mounting a lens assembly in place of the secondary mirror, a CCD camera can be mounted at the front of the telescope allowing for a wider field of view and much faster imaging.

The HyperStar lens assembly allows the SBIG ST-237A CCD camera to be attached to Celestron''''s'' 11" Fastar-compatible SCTs. A holder is included for safe storage of the secondary mirror while imaging.

The HyperStar systems allows the telescope to operate at a focal ratio of f/1.8, an incredible 30 times faster than the standard f/10 focal ratio! Images can be obtained in just seconds!

A must have for the Celestron 11
After buying the Mead DSI camera, I was rather disappointed with the limited field of view and poor results.  Then I got the HyperStar 11 lens.  Incredible results.  The 500mm equivelant focal length is a perfect match between the DSI and most galaxies and nebulas.  Most nebula exposures are about 42 seconds so a polar mount isnt needed unless the target is near the zenith.  One  problem with the HyperStar 11 is that it is optimized for the SBIG series of cameras, youre right at the focus limits for the Celestron 11 if you use a Meade DSI.  Even though the lens uses a t-mount thread, the back focus distance is not standard, so you cant use a SLR with it.  Thats why it gets a 8 instead of a 10.
