The Baader UV / IR blocking filter is essentially a luminance filter. It is included with ST-2000XCM color cameras to improve the color balance of the single shot color CCD by blocking the near IR light. It can be placed behind a camera lens adapter and used to block the out of focus near IR light that causes stars to look bloated with using a typical 35mm camera lens to shoot wide field images.

The UV+IR blocking filter will be a supplied accessory for the ST-2000XCM color camera, however, it works equally well on any camera where one wants to suppress the out of focus UV and IR light from an achromat or typical camera lens. This filter will not only improve the color balance of the ST-2000XCM but it will improve the star images taken through a common camera lens on any ST series cameras (ST-7 through ST-10). The sharp cutoff at 400 and 700 nm, and high transmission in visible wavelengths, makes it an ideal "luminance" filter for LRGB color imaging. The glass is optically polished and AR coated.
