Typical outstanding Takahashi quality.  Easy to install and very accurate.

Ive seen a few post, from some who have had a difficult time installing or making this focuser function properly. To make this short and simple, once you install the 10:1, you have to make final adjustments, to both the outer focus knob and the inner sleeve, or it will slip and slide on you...Not to blow smoke, but this is Easily as smooth and well manufactured as any feather touch, YOU just have to install it correctly!!!

10 out of 10 Easy!!!

Nicely made but does not have the precise feel as the Starlight model. In short, this focuser is not nearly as nice as a Feathertouch...not even close.

a little confusing on the tension adjustment.  its adjusted by turning the clutch sleeve, not just loosening or tightening the set screw..
I had to crank it down pretty far

I received the MEF2 and installed it on my FSQ-106.  The installation was straightforward.  After installation the feel on the main focus knob was very heavy and had very tight areas.  If the MEF2 was disconnected the focus felt silky smooth (normal).  WIth the MEF2 attached it felt awful -- only the 10:1 reduced focus felt good.  I played around with the MEF2 for quite awhile, adjusting the tension, making sure it was not flexing the focus shaft, etc.  The MEF2 is beatifully made, it just does not work well on my FSQ.

Installation went straight forward. Heavy load is a problem and the focuser does work too soft for me.

I just received the focuser modification for my Sky 90 and am very impressed. It came with clear directions; quick and easy to install. No installation issues at all. The focuser now feels even smoother than before (if that is possible) and is very precise. If you are “on the fence” about the usefulness of this item, debate no more! Go for it, you won’t be disappointed.

Awesome ungrade to my FS-102. This is an exponential improvement to the scope, especially if you do astrophotography. This has got to be the best upgrade to my equipment this year. Installation is easy, do not panic when you dont see pictures. Instructions are clear.

I installed a Micro Edge focuser on my Sky-90.  The device
makes is much easier and more positive to reach critical focus
for imaging (a challenge at f/4.5).  With the native
rack-and-pinion, the last bit of focus adjustment is more
like leaning a bit on the knob rather than turning it.  
With the gear reduction, that last bit of adjustment is far
more positive and reproducible.  There is some flex in the
gear train, but one quickly adjusts to that.  Im very
happy with this well-finished accessory.

I use a Takahashi Mewlon 250 with the added cassegrain focuser as a way to add fine focus once I have initial mirror lock...Now with a 10:1 micro edge added the cassegrain focuser has increased detail which when viewing objects that are visually challenging ( faint nebula and 11+ mag galaxies ) your ability to tighten up your focus is greatly improved. Silky smooth, exceptional tak quality ,this is a Fantastic addition for Your Mewlon! J.E.

It consists of a micro-focuser knob assembly that you attach to the focuser gear shaft in place of one of the original knobs. It can be attached to either right or left side. You can put the focuser on in about ten minutes. It is beautifully made, excactly matching the original equipment focus knob. And it works perfectly with a silky smooth feel.
