Encoder wire
Purchased the Losmandy DSC and the Sky Commander for my GM-8. The delrin gear covers are a must and really should be part of the Losmandy kit though it does work without them.
Installed very easy but when I moved the axis no change in the numbers on the Sky Commander! Called Anacortes and Sky Engineering. Victor at Sky was great!
As he(and another reviewer here) said the wire supplied by Losmandy connecting the encoders to The Commander was crap.
I rewired all the plugs and it works great!
Losmandy makes great metal parts(these encoders look very good) but as with other wires from my GM-8 they supply the cheapest wires they can. Replace em all.

A great Option, rather then a go-to!
I have owned 3 sets of the Losmandy Digital Setting circles, my first time out was a complete disaster, leaving me to go back to a go-to system ( LX200). Well, I am here to tell you that once you get the hang of these circles and understand how easier they are to use, you will truly enjoy your decision to own them. If your a grab-to user this would be a good upgrade, a great option rather then a go-to!

The hardware installed on my GM-8 with no problems, in less than half an hour. It is nicely crafted, and it fits into the architecture of the mount (doesnt look like an add-on). No parts were missing, and the furnished installation diagram was easy to understand.

Poor Execution
The cable to the encoders was faulty which delayed my ability to use the product. Otherwise seems good. A little attention to details would really make a great product. Cutting corners on the cable quality is just not very smart.

Right out of the box!
Typical Losmandy quality. The install took less than an hour. The instructions were easy to follow, and straight forward. The only thing to look out for, is to be sure to match the encoder housings to the proper axis, (the housing with the one flat side goes on the RA axis) there is no mention of this in the instruction. I also purchased the Sky Commander XP4 along with the encoders. I just followed the instructions in the manual and it worked right out of the box! Easy to learn and it WORKS! First time out, every object was placed dead center in the eyepiece.
