You have dreamed of a reflector with exceptional and powerful optics, with a generous diameter and with the guarantee of an incredible contrast : Mewlon is for you ! Mewlon are Cassegrain reflectors using the Dall-Kirkham optical design. The elliptic primary mirror is associated with a spherical secondary mirror. The image is returned to the back of the instrument via an opening spared in the center of the primary mirror.

With its Cassegrain range reflectors, based on Dall-Kirkham optical design, Takahashi acted as a pioneer, and made Schmidt-Cassegrain other manufacturers outdated. This reflector with its excellent optical qualities can be used in a wide range of applications, and brings it on the top of the market. No worldwide mass production of reflectors can be compared to the Mewlon and be able to offer similar performances : compactness, power, rationality and versatility.

The precision of optical surfaces is at least of ?/20. This standard of quality induces a strong concentration of the light in Airy disc, physical image of a star looked through any optical system. The stellar images are more defined and contrasted. The Mewlon primary mirror, oversized compared to the effective aperture, is installed in a mirror cell especially designed to avoid stresses sometimes generating of astigmatism.

The focuser, often one of the weak points of the current telescopes, was particularly neat. The translating mechanism of the primary mirror of Mewlon 180mm and 210mm is machined with a particular care in the Takahashi workshops in order to reduce the shifting, to obtain a softness and an optimal regularity of focusing. Mewlon 250mm and 300mm are equipped with a the secondary mirror translating focuser, ordered with an electric handbox.
Equipped with a 50.8mm eyepiece holder in standard, you will be able to associate the most appropriate accessory with it, for visual, photographic or CCD use. The complete and coherent range of accessories proposed, will reach any of your goals.

The fixing of Mewlon on equatorial mountings is carried out using functional and effective dovetails. Their design facilitates frequent handling such as balancing or OTA assembly/disassembly without deterioration. Moreover, on Mewlon of large diameters, a counterweight is provided to balance the optical tube.
Mewlon integrates a high quality finder scope, associating luminosity and sharpness. This finder scope can also be used as a handle for transportation, without creating any bending or malfunctioning.

Man, what a Scope
Having owned my first 250, changing its mounting configuration into BRC250 rings, the wiring on the  focuser and rear end piece, I spent countless hours using this beauty only to sell it with regret each day I didnt own 1. As  Tak now offers my prototype as the S version, dont let the special application detour you away from this incredible instrument. I am on my second 250 and for a very good reason. There are so many ways to discribe this scope from its wonderful finish to its general manufacturing to the optical excellence you would expect in a 10 Cassegrain. I often use mine with a 1.6x extender, increasing the focal to 4600mm and let me say, this scope only GETS Better. Wheather your only a casual observer or a hard-core Amateur this is the one scope you have got to Own. I use many of the Tak LE eyepieces also, but no matter what type you use, this 250 is a monster to view through. A 10 rating doesnt due it justice, but dont take my word for it, BUY ONE and see!

What was I thinking
This is my second Mewlon 250. I thought I had to sell my first one, to help pay bills. Never again, I dont know what I was thinking, I never should have sold it. I regretted it from day one. This is in my estimation the Ferrari of scopes. Not because of its speed (at F11 there are other scopes that are faster) but the way it just works. Optically it outperforms much larger scopes, as I am able to push the scope to its limits when the other scopes have already turned mushy. On one very steady night in Chiefland, FL someone in our group laid down a challenge saying his scope was the best. We picked the double double in Lyre and started throwing on the power; by the time we got to 1,500X I was the only one standing. I still had 2 stars with a hole to drive a truck through. When you add the exquisite finder scope, light weight, the electric focusing of the secondary, fixed primary, removable back for cooling, magnetic weight system and the unbelievable fit and finish, is there any other scope that can compete, I dont think so. I also got smart and bought the EM200 to mount it on. This move turned out to be a stoke of genius on my part. My CCD images are showing the results, with nice round tight stars and detail missing in my other earlier images. It will be a cold day in hell the day I part with my second Mewlon 250 and EM200 mount.

This Cassegrains for YOU
Being somewhat of a Cassegrain guy, I finally made the plunge and graduated to a Mewlon 250 ...Starting with a 10 LX-200, then a 12 and most recently the new Meade 14 I can honestly say this is one incredable Cat...I have also owned and truly liked Celestrons C-14 and a very good Tak CN-212 but not a single scope Ive mentioned can stand up to the Mewlon 250...Image quality is refractor like and from what I was told, the planetary views are breath taking...Well, not only is this a planetary killer, its a Deep Space explorer above and beyond...Having to do the majority of my viewing in heavy light pollution, not only was the Orion nebula the best I have ever seen, but from star clusters to the Andromeda Galaxy the 250 didnt miss a beat...Quality, finish and the electronic focuser are all A+, but the optical quality is outstanding and if your looking for an OTA youll keep for a life time, This Cassegrains for YOU!

Mewlon 250
This scope rates TOPS in my book.  With a jet black background the stars and plantes look as if you are looking through a 6 high end APO.  and with the added apeture deepsky object are even better.  Very easy to use and the electric focuser makes it a dream.
