My Favorite Astro Light
Im the one who recommended that Herb add this little light to his astronomy flashlight lineup.

After years of trying all kinds of red flashlights for astronomy use, I discovered this little Pelican LED light over a year ago and it is the handiest dang thing Ive ever run across.  Its tiny, lightweight, and unobtrusive hanging around your neck.  The light, with batteries and lanyard attached weighs only 1.2 oz.  The single LED, with the supplied red lens installed, is just the right brightness for seeing things in the dark and it provides soft, even illumination for easy reading of star charts.  It also lends itself well to holding in your teeth for hands free illumination.

It is made of virtually indestructible polycarbonate, so you dont have to worry about dropping it.  The O-ring seal makes it water and dust resistant and the safety break-away lanyard wont strangle you if you get it caught on something.

Ive been using mine for over a year and its still working on the original batteries.  I highly recommend the yellow light housing as its easy to find in the dark.

Best of all, its made in the USA!
