TeleVue 5mm Radian 1.25" Eyepiece

Manufacturer : TeleVue
Part Number : ERD-05.0

The TeleVue Radians provide high image quality, generous eye relief, and are useful for a wide variety of telescopes and viewing situations.

5mm Radian Eyepiece.

"What sets Radians apart from other long eye-relief, short-focal-length eyepieces is superb image quality. Even discerning planetary observers who customarily choose Plössl or orthoscopic designs are switching to Radian." — Sky & Telescope, December 1999

Instadjust was developed for maximizing contrast while aiding in proper eye positioning for non-eyeglass wearers. It is essential, since with the Radian's long eye-relief, non-eyeglass wearers could easily get too close to the eyepiece, resulting in vignetting where edge field rays miss your pupil. The push-pull, click-stop adjustment permits fast positioning and maximum suppression of environmental stray light.

Another unique development is the Pupil Guide. It helps non-eyeglass wearers, especially novices, zero-in and stay centered on the exit pupil. The Pupil Guide is included with all Radian and Nagler Type 4s and fits under the soft, fold-down rubber eyeguard.

Im very satisfied
What a nice EP this is. I have been using a 5mm UO Ortho until now. This has great eye relief and I can wear my eye glasses. The larger FOV makes the floaters in my eyes much less distracting compared to the UO Orthos, where they always seem to swim into view. The contrast is excellent and I want to add more Radians in the future.

VERY GOOD LENS..
I have had this eyepiece for two years and use it with my Televue 85. With the 85 it is superb with mag. 120x and a wide field of view. Images of the moon and planets are sharp to the edge. The only color i have seen are when the moons limb reaches the edge of field, at which time you can see a yellow fringe. Not bothersome for me. It does blackout abit, but when you use the eyeguard this problem goes away. The eyeguard does cause a problem with dewing during the humid summer months, since it traps heat and moisture from my eye and skin. If i lower the eyeguard for a few moments, the lens clears up. All in all a terrific eyepiece!

TV 5mm Radian
Ditto my comments for the 10mm Radian. Sharpness and contrast surpassed only by the rare and exotic Pentax 5mm SMC ortho which is no longer available.

A Better Radian
One of the better radians in the shorter focal length lenses.  Good contrast, light thru put and sharpness.  A nice lens.
