The Viking LT 2x24 provides clear viewing in total darkness by utilizing a single built-in IR illuminator with a range of 150 m. All image intensifier tubes are extremely light sensitive and can be destroyed by bright lights; however the Viking LT 2x24 remedies this problem by including Yukon?s exclusive Eclipse lens cap system. These lens caps include a pinhole to protect the unit from bright light, but still allow the user the option of daytime use.

The Viking makes use of a built-in PULSE infrared illuminator for added image clarity in total darkness. The PULSE system utilizes quick infrared energy bursts that pierce the darkness further to increase distance, visibility and image quality. The PULSE IR System provides the highest level of infrared illumination without significant battery drainage. The same "pulsing" frequency that is invisible to human eyes infiltrates longer distances due to the Infrared Illuminator''''s'' quick energy bursts.
