I have waited a couple of years to finally get a mount for my Celestron C-8. Larry from Universal Astronomics was very helpful in helping me find the correct mount for my scope. But meanwhile I bought a Takahashi Mewlon 210 and change my order mid-stream to the Macrostar Deluxe. It took a while for this to get into the Anacortes inventory but was well worth it. Larry even shipped the scope so I can get it before Xmas before Anacortes had the inventory number in their system! I ordered also the eyepiece tray and handle.
I got the mount before Xmas and the heavy duty wooden surveyors tripod with tray after Xmas. The packages was well packed. Larry realized I needed to save money shipping to Hawaii so he shipped USPS ground.
Of course I set it up that night which was kind of cloudy cloudy skies
but I put the Mewlon 210 which was about 18 or so lbs on it cinched the 3 inch clamp up and rebalanced it and Wala- perfect balance in the dark. Of couse this mount is made to handle 30lbs. The mount handled the scope with ease. The mount was invisible as I used the handle to look at M42 with my Pentax XL7 eyepiece, steady as steady can be. Tracking was effortless, better than butter. So I took the Mewlon off, threw on the C-8 and wow, duck soup. It was as if the 10lb C-8 was light as a feather. The big teflon pads worked perfectly tracking everything I pointed at and vibration stopped within a second with the heavy duty surveyors tripod which I recomend with the tray, comes in handy to store your Telescope objective caps on it. My hats off to Larry for being so helpful and making sure every customer of his has the right product. Now I know why I waited for so long to get his products. Perfectomundo.
