Sky Engineering manufactures telescope computers that are designed for locating and identify celestial objects.
The Sky Engineer’s Commander XP4 computer module is simple to use and easy to connect to your telescope. Once the XP4 is attached and aligned, your telescope will be able to find up to 30,000 stored objects. The Commander XP4 works on both Alt-Azimuth and equatorial type scopes. Sky Engineer provides an Commander Mounting kit for Dobsonian type scopes and mounts other astronomy accessories to enable your telescope to integrate with the Commander XP4.

The Sky Commander is a small self contained computer designed for the specific purpose of locating and identifying celestial objects with a telescope.

The XP4 is based on the original Sky Commander DSC design but with important hardware upgrades including 4 times the internal memory space, allowing room for many more objects to be stored (up to approx. 30,000). Now uses Flash type memory ... connect the XP4 to your PC and run the boot-flash utility to upgrade. Uses encoder "fast-tracking" now. New custom ABS plastic enclosure.
