    Meade moved its Irvine based manufacturing to a brand new factory just over the border in Mexico in early 2008. The new Meade factory has over twice the space for production than their Irvine operation with over 70,000 square feet devoted to building products like the LX200-ACF, the LX90-ACF, Coronado and more. This factory is wholly owned and operated by Meade.

   The new optical shop uses the same hi-tech equipment that has allowed Meade to set the standard for advanced high quality optical systems like the Advanced Coma-Free system. Meade produces optics from 4 to 20 inches.  After the glass has gone through the sophisticated optical figuring process and has been fully tested, it is ready to go to Meade’s state-of-the-art coating room. This is where Ultra-High-Transmission Coatings (UHTC) are applied.

   Because of the different techniques required to produce their specialized solar filters and lenses, Coronado has its own optical fabrication area.  Great care is taken in the assembly of these fine solar filters and solar telescopes. Each and every one is tested on the sun.  Extensive quality testing is done on every Meade telescope for mechanical, optical and cosmetic quality and performance.
